Arsenal to swap Arshavin for Bayern Munich Frenchman

Many would swap Ribery for Arshavin. The Russian looks to be coming to the end of his Arsenal careerClaims coming from the Emirates on Sunday claim that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to offer Bayern Munich a swap deal which would see Andrei Arshavin being swapped for Franck Ribery.

It had been noted in 2009 that Wenger was keen on the Frenchman however a price tag of £40m was too much of an outlay for the Munich star. A swap however during the summer would save Arsenal some cash, although it will not be a simple switch and Wenger is likely to have to add some funds to make the deal work.

With the Frenchman being one year younger than his Russian counterpart age should not be a factor and with Wenger’s love for all things French as strong as ever this could possibly be one of the shrewdist moves of the summer.

Ribéry is well known for getting back defensively when he needs to and showed great commitment against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, coming back when it was required, even when leading 4-0. Many feel Arshavin is in his final year at the Emirates and although he is being continuously linked with a move to St. Petersburg, a switch to the much improved Bundesliga may be the ideal chance for both Wenger and Arshavin to be winners.
