Liverpool FC and Aston Villa to compete for signature of “Korean Gerrard”

Ki has had a terrific season for Celtic despite some controversySources in Scotland have informed us that Liverpool FC and Aston Villa are looking to make a move for Celtic’s Ki Sung-Yueng even though he only signed for the Scottish outfit just last year.

Known as the “Korean Gerrard”, Ki has been in impressive form for Celtic this season earning rave reviews world wide for his box to box work and ability to defend when required. The former FC Seoul man has also picked up nearly 40 caps for his country and Liverpool and Aston Villa may make move at the beginning of the summer to tie things up quickly.

For Liverpool it would be yet another step in the right direction and with Ki only 22 years old, he has plenty of time at his disposal. Aston Villa on the other hand are somewhat a little bewildered at the moment with many not really knowing who will be managing next season after the illness of Gerard Houllier and Ki may not wish to join a side that momentarily looks to be a little disorganised.

Ki Sung-Yueng signed for Celtic in 2010 for little more that £2m however a string of excellent performances for the club will have increased his value meaning a bid of around £5m would be more acceptable. Whether Neil Lennon would be interested in selling the player who has done so well in settling in in his first season is a different question altogether.
